MISSION STATEMENT:
Project Golden Frog/Proyecto Rana Dorada exists to preserve the culturally-significant golden frog of Panama through scientific field studies, education, financial support, and captive management; and to use the attractive frog as a model flagship species for amphibian decline issues in Panama and worldwide.

PGF/PRD continually strives for the following:

• increase the understanding of the species biology of the golden frog;
• maintain the ex situ colony with the highest level of genetic diversity with the hopes/goal of a potential reintroduction;
• direct, coordinated conservation effort by governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations;
• heightened awareness of global amphibian declines worldwide, using golden frogs as a model species for worldwide conservation efforts;
• increase respect among Panamanians and global citizens concerning wildlife;
• support habitat preservation for threatened and endangered species throughout the world.
